1-Hour School Delay: Monday, December 10

Carteret County Public Schools will have a one (1) hour delay tomorrow, December 10, for students. Staff may report at the usual time if safe to do so. This decision was made after several discussions with NOAA forecasters. Those forecasters are predicting heavy winds and coastal flooding this evening. Under normal circumstances this amount of rainfall would not be a problem. However, there are many areas already flooded from the rains and because of hurricane debris blocking ditches and drainage areas.

The one (1) hour delay tomorrow will allow bus drivers, student drivers and parents to have more visibility. All drivers are urged to use extreme caution because there will be standing water on many roads throughout the county. (A phone call to parents/employees will go out at 3:30 p.m.)
